Numbered islands, bridges to draw. Each island shows a number: exactly how many bridges must reach it. Bridges run horizontally or vertically, single or double, and never cross. When every island has its count and the whole archipelago holds together as one, the grid is solved.
This puzzle is hashi (hashiwokakero), known in English as Bridges: the Japanese game of islands and bridges. It takes one grid to understand and plays out through pure deduction — no vocabulary, no arithmetic, no guessing.
EVERY GRID HAS EXACTLY ONE SOLUTION
The 150 grids in Ponts are generated, then checked one by one by a solver: a grid is kept only if it can be solved entirely through logical deduction, with a single possible solution. In practice, you will never have to guess. If you are stuck, there is a deduction you have not spotted yet — and there always is one.
A HINT THAT REASONS, NEVER A GIVEAWAY
The hint does not reveal the solution: it plays the next bridge the solver deduces from your position, following the logical order of the reasoning. If you have placed one bridge too many, it starts by undoing that mistake. Grids finished without hints are credited as such on the victory screen.
THREE SIZES, FIFTY GRIDS EACH
• DISCOVERY — 7×7, to learn the moves: an island marked 8 forces four double bridges, a 1 in a corner has only one way to go…
• CLASSIC — 10×10, the cruising size.
• VAST — 15×15, real archipelagos that reward patience.
A progress ring for each pack, one-tap resume of the grid in progress, and free choice of any grid in an unlocked pack.
MADE FOR QUIET PLAY
• No timer by default: time appears only if you turn it on in Settings.
• One gesture: swipe from island to island to place a bridge, swipe again to double it, once more to remove it.
• Undo and Redo across the whole game, without limits.
• Mistakes are flagged calmly: the overloaded island is circled and a discreet banner explains why. No red flash, no jarring sound.
• Completed islands grey out (you can turn this off), so the grid itself shows where thinking remains.
• Light theme, dark theme, or follow the system; adjustable island size; careful contrast throughout.
FULLY PLAYABLE WITH A SCREEN READER
The whole board works with TalkBack: every island announces its number, its position and its state, and bridges are placed, doubled or removed through accessibility actions. Every move is confirmed aloud, including the win. Few logic puzzles can be played entirely by ear — this one can.
SIMPLE AND HONEST
• Works fully offline, from the first bridge to the last.
• No ads, no forced videos between grids.
• No account, no sign-up: your progress stays on your phone and nowhere else.
• No lives, no energy, no subscription. The Discovery pack is included; a single one-time purchase unlocks the Classic and Vast packs, forever.
If you enjoy sudoku or nonograms, hashi flexes the same logical muscles with a different gesture: you don't fill in squares, you draw a network. A Discovery grid folds in minutes; a Vast one is worth a whole evening.
Place the first bridge. The rest is deduction.
